Bangkok has so many hotels to choose from that we were spoilt for choice. The main reason why we chose to stay at Mercure Bangkok Siam is its good location and we are happy to say that we were satisfied with the choice.

P.S. Ibis Bangkok Siam is located in the same building so that is another choice if you prefer a slightly cheaper lodging.
Located Near Train Station
Mercure Bangkok Siam is right next to National Stadium BTS Station. Bangkok has a reputation of having the worst traffic jam in Southeast Asia. Traveling by train eliminates the time wasting being stuck in traffic jams. Staying near BTS stations make it much more convenient commuting and even allows for short breaks in between sightseeing or drop off heavy shopping bags. If you are heading to the hotel from airport via train or vice versa, do take note there is a need to change trains so it will be more troublesome with large and heavy luggage.
Close to Shopping District
Mercure Bangkok Siam is diagonally across MBK Center and a short walk to Siam Square One and Siam Paragon. So that took care of most of our shopping and dining needs.
Comfortable Rooms
We stayed for 2 nights in their executive rooms, which are on the higher floors. There is a sofa bed at the side which will be used as an extra sleeping space if you decide to squeeze in another pax (as shown in photo below).
There is no bathtub to the disappointment of the little ones.
From the windows, we enjoyed views of Bangkok skyline, instead of directly into someone else backyard or back-of-house area. Watching the sunrise over Bangkok:
Their Executive Lounge
To us, it was worth paying more for our executive rooms with lounge access. Typically the normal rates are around US$50 higher than superior rooms on their official website. We also booked via AccorHotel website but with advance saver rate, each room was charged at an affordable S$145.
The quiet Executive Lounge and warm service allowed us to relax outside of our room after a day of sightseeing, with all day refreshments.
They have a decent spread of food and beverage for breakfast and cocktail hours, which is from 6pm to 8pm. We saved on our meals by snacking in the lounge. LOL.

Their breakfast spread was definitely not as varied as the one downstairs at The Eight restaurant. So it is actually a choice of variety or peace and quiet.

Other Facilities
We did not have the time to use the hotel’s other facilities such as pool and gym. But we did went up to the top floor to take a look. The view from the pool side over Bangkok is worth spending some time.
